Barry established Barry Proctor Services Ltd (BPS) in May 1985. He started out in a small side office by the train tracks near Stoke-on-Trent station with a parking space for one truck, and went on to build one of the most successful and nationally recognised haulage businesses in the UK; that customers are pleased to work with, and logistics people and professional HGV drivers are proud to work for.
Prior to setting up BPS, Barry previously worked as Transport Manager for 12yrs at Neild & Timmis. This position followed 10 years working for Supreme Salt Co Ltd. initially as a Class 1 HGV driver where he climbed the ranks to be promoted to Transport Manager.
As well as developing the haulage business, Barry was also a Founding Partner of North Staffs Builders Merchants for 17 years which he and his fellow partners sold to Jewson in 2002.
Barry is a long standing member of the RHA (Road Haulage Association) and served as Regional Chairman of the Midlands & Western Regional Council, and on the RHA Board of Directors. In addition to this Barry is also a member of North Staff Chamber of Commerce. At the Nuneaton Truck Bash in 2016 he was also presented with an award recognising 30 years of service to the haulage industry.
